A FICTIONAL CLIENT EXERCISE
A new home
for the design.
Try the downloaded kit with this fictional brief. Keep demo mode enabled and work in a copy of the extracted files.
The client: Little Hours
A fictional residential cleaner serving Longmont and Niwot. Hours: Monday–Thursday, 9am–4pm Mountain Time. Offers recurring cleaning, a deeper reset and move-out work. All work needs an estimate; no starting prices are supplied.
Headline: More room for living. Introduction: Home cleaning shaped around your rooms and routines. Tell us what you need, and we’ll agree a plan before your visit.
Route: existing inquiry tool, “Request an estimate.” Use https://example.com/cleaning-estimate as a placeholder only. No phone supplied; texts off. Keep the original illustration and its disclosure.
Make and check the changes
- Open the setup form and enter the brief above. Keep the three service categories in their original order.
- Leave all starting prices empty. Keep actual policies unverified until reviewed; do not invent certifications, reviews or access details.
- Set the first service’s homepage choice button to Weekly help.
- Download
site-config.jsand replace the file of that exact name in your working copy’swebsitefolder. - Open and refresh both website pages from that copy. Expect Little Hours, Longmont · Niwot, the new headline and “Request an estimate” for all services.
- Reopen the saved file in the setup form. Review the business name, choose “Use these settings,” and confirm your headline and choice label remain.
- Choose each homepage cleaning type. Confirm the first button reads “Weekly help.” Follow its service link and confirm the matching section opens.
- Confirm all real contact actions remain disabled during evaluation.
Prepare an honest draft handoff
Open the handoff builder included in the documents folder. Record Little Hours and its placeholder inquiry route. Leave actual delivery proof and publication checks incomplete.
Remaining work: real domain and hosting ownership, real inquiry destination, client-approved scope and policies, authorized photographs, commercial-use approval and agreed support. Your exported handoff should remain a draft.
Record any instruction that was unclear. This exercise is not an independent customer test, a real booking or a publication.
Return to the handoff later
In the kit’s client handoff builder, record the fictional business and leave unperformed checks unticked. Choose Save editable draft. In a fresh copy of the same handoff builder, select that .json file, review the project name and choose Use this draft. Confirm your notes and incomplete checks return, then make one change and save a new draft.
Keep this editable draft for your own project work. Use Download handoff document for the readable document. Both are local downloads; neither contacts the client or approves a launch.
