A FICTIONAL CLIENT EXERCISE

A new name.
Their own character.

Use this brief in a copy of the extracted kit. Keep preview mode enabled. No appointment, account or publication is part of this exercise.

The client: Fern & Fur

A fictional dog groomer in Loveland. Area: Loveland · By appointment. Hours: Wednesday–Saturday, 9am–4pm Mountain Time. Descriptor: Dog grooming.

Headline: A little tidy. A lot of character. Introduction: Grooming for the dogs who make themselves at home. Tell us about yours, and we’ll agree a visit before setting a date.

Keep the three visits in order, but rename them The freshen-up, The coat appointment and Meet the groomer. Use the matching homepage buttons A quick refresh, A fuller groom and Our first hello. Leave all prices empty; retain estimate-first wording and scope for this exercise.

Route: existing inquiry tool, “Request an estimate.” Use https://example.com/grooming-inquiry as a placeholder only. No phone is supplied; texts remain off. Keep the generated dog illustration and disclosure.

Make the changes, then check them.

  1. Open the setup form and enter the brief. Download site-config.js before leaving the page.
  2. Replace that exact file in your working copy’s website folder. Keep the original kit as a backup.
  3. Open and refresh the homepage and services page from the same copy. Expect Fern & Fur, Loveland, the new headline and three “Request an estimate” prices.
  4. Choose each homepage button. Follow the service link and confirm it opens the matching renamed visit: first to first, second to second, third to third.
  5. Reopen your saved export in setup. Review Fern & Fur in the import summary, choose “Use these settings” and confirm all three service names and button labels remain.
  6. Keep actual policies unverified. Do not add invented grooming results, qualifications, testimonials or private pet details.
  7. Confirm all appointment, call and text actions remain disabled. The placeholder route must never be presented as a real business destination.
  8. Review the fixed copy and page metadata. The setup form edits configured content; the files still need a builder’s review.

Leave an honest handoff.

Open the client handoff builder in the package’s documents folder. Record Fern & Fur and its placeholder destination. Leave delivery proof, device checks, account access and commercial-use approval incomplete unless actually established.

Record the remaining work: real destination and recipient, domain/hosting ownership, agreed service scope and policies, authorized client imagery, support and commercial-use approval. Download the document as a draft.

This exercise is a way to try the kit. It is not independent buyer acceptance or evidence that the template will sell.

Return to the handoff later

In the kit’s client handoff builder, record the fictional business and leave unperformed checks unticked. Choose Save editable draft. In a fresh copy of the same handoff builder, select that .json file, review the project name and choose Use this draft. Confirm your notes and incomplete checks return, then make one change and save a new draft.

Keep this editable draft for your own project work. Use Download handoff document for the readable document. Both are local downloads; neither contacts the client or approves a launch.
